Orange Catalano 197 — NL-2024-8509197 is a chequer cock with outstanding Barcelona credentials close up in his pedigree: a direct son of Orange OIL, 1st International Barcelona Ace Pigeon over three years, and a grandson of both Jef, an International Barcelona winner, and Catalana, a National Barcelona winner.
His mother, Orange OIL — NL-2013-1019603, supplies the pedigree’s strongest evidence of sustained performance. Her documented honours include:
- 1st International Barcelona Ace Pigeon over three years, 2017–2019.
- 1st National Barcelona Ace Pigeon, 2017–2019.
- 28th National and 76th International Barcelona, 2018.
- 56th National and 158th International Barcelona, 2017.
The sire, Catalano — NL-2022-8442660, brings together two major Barcelona performers in the Batenburg/Goeree branch. His father, Jef — BE-2016-2051063, won 1st International Barcelona in 2019 against 16,051 pigeons. Jef also earned 1st ELD Ace Pigeon, Sans Peur Herent, 2018, and 3rd ELD Ace Pigeon, KBDB Flemish Brabant, 2018. Catalano’s mother, Catalana — NL-2020-1544052, won 1st National Barcelona in 2022. Orange Catalano 197 is therefore a grandson of both winners through his sire.
The maternal family, recorded under Frans Bungeneers, adds further breeding depth. Orange OIL is a daughter of King of Queens — BE-2010-6057105 and Lady Richelle — BE-2010-6057103. Lady Richelle is credited as the mother of offspring winning nine first prizes, including Chica Barca, listed with 1st Barcelona in 2020. Further back, King of Queens is a son of the explicitly recorded half-brother of Rodico, the 2006 International Barcelona winner; this is a collateral family connection, not direct descent from Rodico. The maternal pedigree also records connections to Queen Tonny.
A compelling Barcelona-focused breeding prospect, combining a multi-year International ace mother with International and National Barcelona-winning paternal grandparents.
